Your stomach gets a new lining roughly every 4 days. The acid in your stomach is strong enough to dissolve metal slowly. The only reason it doesn't dissolve itself is because it constantly regenerates its protective lining. If it didn't, you'd essentially digest yourself from the inside. Here's another one.
